Snapshot of the Dutch Eredivisie
The Dutch Eredivisie is the top division of football in the Netherlands and consists of 18 teams. Amsterdam-based Ajax are the most successful club, having won 36 league titles. Along with PSV Eindhoven and Feyenoord, they form the “big three”, with the trio winning 58% of all Eredivisie championships between them.
At the end of each season, the bottom two clubs are automatically relegated. The team finishing third from bottom enters a promotion/relegation play-off competition, known as the “Nacompetitie”, alongside six clubs from the Eerste Divisie.
